Praying for Our Special Friends

Praying for Our Special Friends

Each time we gather at Sardis, we offer prayers of thanksgiving and intercession to God for the friends and family whom we love, as well as our many neighbors near and far. Those prayers aren’t just limited to our human neighbors, but also include all the creatures of God’s great and wonderful creation.

In many instances, our pets and other beloved animals offer a companionship that is unmatched – they offer unconditional love, keep us safe, and infuse us with energy. They understand us. We think it’s important to acknowledge the special relationships our animals share with us, and with our God, and the interconnectedness of it all.

On Saturday 9/28 we’ll host our 4th Annual Blessing of the Animals. You can find details here. We’re especially excited to have a petting zoo this year, as well the beautiful music of flutist Dave Fox. It will be a tangible way to mark the significance of the animals in our lives.

But we also know that life is busy, and sometimes our pets (and our human friends, too!) aren’t able to be physically present. No worries! Prayers have the ability to transcend space and time. Therefore, we’ve created a wall of blessings, complete with pictures of our extended pet family. The display will hang in our meetinghouse all year long, reminding us to celebrate, pray for, and remember the vital presence of the creatures that love and minister to us on a daily basis.

If you would like to include your special pet on our wall of blessings, please email a photo, along with your name and your pet’s name to info@sardisbaptistcharlotte.org.

We also want to ask you to pray for a special group of friends: our Bullies 2 the Rescue companions. They are all rescued English Bulldogs who offer SO MUCH love and care to their families. We’ve included their pictures below. Please also give special prayers for our good friends Ruby Almond, 13.5 years old, and starting to feel her age, Lulu Faye who just celebrated her 14th birthday, and 12-year-old Lenny. Ask God to be present with these sweet pups, and their owners, and to give them full and happy days.

Stay tuned for more sweet pictures, and hope to see you next Saturday, 9/28.
