Sardis Welcomes Amber Simpson

Sardis is excited to welcome Amber Simpson (she/her) as our artist for the Lenten Season of 2021.  Over the last few years, Sardis has made an intentional effort to engage outside voices for proclamation and music in special seasons. Through the generosity of funds from our Duncan Endowment for Worship and Education, we are delighted to include an artistic voice in the coming season.

Amber is an abstract alcohol ink artist who lives and works in Anniston, Alabama. Amber is designing a piece of art for Sardis Baptist Church that will evolve through the season. Each Sunday morning she will unveil the work she’s done which will culminate on Easter morning. During the week, Amber will share centering words and invite you into a time of reflection. These reflections will be made available through our weekly email, or you can find links to the emails posted here each Friday.  We look forward to our time with Amber, and all the ways she will helps us better connect the divine in our lives.

Art is a powerful tool that can be used to connect with yourself in a deeper way. That’s what I am here to do — help you connect with the divine God.

Getting to Know Amber Simpson

Self-taught, Amber began painting as a means for self and spiritual care to connect with God. Drawn to matters of the soul, her bold and vibrant paintings are rooted in her desire to connect to the Divine within herself and others. Amber’s personal style exudes emotion and expresses deep discovery and love.

After completing her Master of Divinity, Amber delved even more into her creative practice with the passion to connect art to God in a holistic way. She uses meditation practices and “Holy Listening” to allow her intuition a voice. It is a collaboration between created and Creator. Amber relishes this relationship with the Divine.

In her spare time, Amber loves to hike, paint, read, drink coffee and spend time with her husband, Scott, and her son, Martin.
